In general, there are many animals out there that look like your dog or cat. It is strangely painful to be able to type their breed into google search engine and within a matter of seconds, you are able to find an animal that looks almost identical to them. You see “them” in situations that are new to you, and the photos feel like lost footage of their lives. It causes an emotional knee-jerk reaction that is suprisingly powerful.
